SAP PI Variants effective usage in SXMB_MONI

$

Dear SCN Friends,

I believe most of us already worked on or heard about Variants usage.I have seen many SAP PI folks in support generally set the filter parameters and save them as variants once and every day while monitoring they select the variant (say interface ID) and then select the date range say (yesterday 00:00 to current date 00:00) .Some approached me asking can we set the date range as well (say From:Current_Date -1 To: Current_Date) instead of manually entering daily .

As number of folks who doesn't know this feature completely are more ,I thought it's better to write a blog and publish it .

Variants allow you to save sets of input values for programs/TCODES that you often start with the same selections .It will be really useful in the below use cases (PI prospective)

1)Need to monitor particular interface(s) daily in SXMB_MONI.

2)For rookies or those who doesn't have interface knowledge and want to pull particular interface logs from SXMB_MONI.

3)If you want to quickly pull the logs from SXMB_MONI .

I'm taking an example to explain.I want to pull XYZ interface logs daily say From Date: Current date -1 00:00 and To Date:Current date 00:00

Variants Set up in SXMB_MONI:

Execute SXMB_MONI tcode and give filter values as below (Depends on your requirement)

Var1.jpg

Click on Save.

Give the Variant Name and Desc.

Only for Background Processing:If you select this check box then variant can only be executed in the background .Otherwise,it can be run both in the background and dialog mode.

Protect Variant :If you select this check box then variant can only be changed by the person who created it .

Only Display in Catalog :Select this check box if you only want the variant name to be displayed in the variant catalog (and not when the user calls the F4 value help).

For From/To date range selection go to selection variable tab and press F4 and select "D"  .Now go to Name of the variable tab and press F4.

var2.jpg

select the above as per your requirement .Here I'm selecting second option.

Var3.jpg

As per my requirement I'm giving 1 day before the current day.Similarly repeat the steps for To Date Executed .Click on save.

Var4.jpg

Daily Monitoring using Variants:

Execute SXMB_MONI tcode and select your Variant .

var5.jpg

Click on F8 .You can see the logs matching to your filter criteria.

Regards

Venkat

REST Sender adapter - multiple dynamic parameters

Dear

We are currently configuring a sender REST adapter which be called as such:

http://host:port/RESTAdapter/pi/query/jira/solman/getsystems?sap-client=001&cust=00009999

(even encoding the question url or only question mark and ampersand doesn't help)

However whenever we try this, we can see following error returned by PI:

The sender adapter is configured properly according to the documentation on SAP Help:

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

We might think this is a bug, as the interface works fine when we use following pattern:

But only when we use the url as follows:

http://host:port/RESTAdapter/pi/query/jira/solman/getsystems%3Fsap-client=001&cust=00009999

We had to encode the question mark in the URL (%3F) in order for PI to pick the right channel with the correct parameters.

When using the normal question mark (e.g. used with the Chrome Advanced REST Client), we basically receive the same error as above:

Have any of you encountered this before, or have any of you used multiple parameters before in the sender REST adapter.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,

we have SOAP to JDBC synchronous interface. And we are facing synch timeout error  in QA.

Messages will be in delivering status and later it gets into error status due to timeout.

if i restart the JDBC channel couple of times and then if i test the message again it starts working fine. But next day again we get the same time out error.

Hello All,

I have got requirement from my customer and he asked me do POC on PI.

They might have chance to use direct connection between webfocus and oracledatabase.but  that is little costly and need to pay licence cost. so they plans to use PI in middle.

Scenario flow:

1) Intial request comes from Webfocus to PI( on demand request)

2) PI gets retrieve data from Oracle database key as a initial request.

3) PI sends back data to Webfocus.

challenges:

1) how PI connects to Webfocus ? either use SOAP (or) REST- please clarify me on this? FYi  webfocus have their own adapters to connect SAP.

2) Oracle database may thousands datasets for one request. But webfocus wants data back to within seconds for ex: max 4 to 5 seconds, how I achieve on performance?

Please suggest your views.

Thank you.

What’s new in SAP Process Orchestration 7.31 SP16 / 7.4 SP11

$
0
0

The latest SP of SAP Process Orchestration 7.31 / 7.4 has been shipped end of May this year. This blog post summarizes what new features and enhancements it brought to you.

PowerDesigner Integration with Process Composer

With SAP Sybase PowerDesigner, SAP provides a powerful tool used for modeling and documenting business processes on a high level. These business processes are executable on SAP BPM by adding technical details using the Process Composer within NetWeaver Developer Studio. The Process Composer comes with a file-based import/export and thus is able to enrich business processes modelled in PowerDesigner and other BPMN 2.0 compliant modeling tools such as Signavio. As PowerDesigner is one of the most important tools in this regard, the integration has been improved to be more convenient.

With the latest SP it is possible to connect the Process Composer directly to one or multiple PowerDesigner repositories. You can search for business processes in the connected repositories using a search view. This view displays the found processes along with additional information to support you in selecting the correct process. In order to finally import the desired process, you simply drag it out of the search view and drop it either on the project explorer or directly on the canvas of the Process Composer.

Java Public API Enhancements - Task Count API

Assigning BPM Tasks to users can lead to unbalanced situations where some users might be overloaded and others are endangered to run out of work. To optimize the distribution of tasks, a new method in the Java Public API was introduced which determines the work load for a group of users. The method getTaskCountPerTaskModel returns the number of tasks assigned to individual users per task model.

Map<URI taskmodelID, Map<IUser,Integer>> getTaskCountPerTaskModel(IUser[] users,TaskAbstractQueryCriteria queryCriteria)

The result of this method looks like illustrated in the following table:

Task ModelUserTask Count
Vehicle Service RequestAlex2
Vehicle DeliveryAlex1
Mike3

Find more details in the JavaDoc of the public API especially on TaskInstanceManager.

Java Public API Enhancements - Attachments API

Working on a BPM Task might require additional documents such as a receipt or a bill. For such purposes SAP BPM provides the possibility to attach documents or other files to a task or a process. With the latest SP the Java Public API provides new methods to retrieve those attachments and to e.g. display them in a UI. In summary the public API comes with three new methods to (1) return all attachments associated with a task instance ID, (2) return the details of a specific attachment and (3) return the total number of attachments for a specific task instance.

Find more details in the JavaDoc of the public API especially on TaskInstanceManager and TaskAbstract.

NetWeaver Administrator Enhancements - Task Model ID in Process Repository

With My Inbox, SAP provides a Fiori App which enables access to all tasks coming from various backend system along with an outstanding user experience. SAP Business Workflow and SAP BPM are just two example of task provider systems which can be connected to the My Inbox. See Neelaja’s Blog for more details. In case of SAP BPM the configuration of the My Inbox is done based on Task Model IDs. The required Task Model IDs are now displayed in the Process Repository of the NetWeaver Administrator.

NWATaskModelID 2.png

Enhanced Generation of task UIs based on SAPUI5

A BPM Task requires a user interfaces to be handled by a processor. SAP BPM provides the ability to generate task UIs based on SAPUI5 and thus increases the developer productivity massively. With 7.31 SP13 the SAPUI5 Generation was enabled for tasks with primitive input data (e.g. String, Integer) only. With the latest SP the SAPUI5 Generation was extended to support complex data types and collections as well. In addition to this the generated UI contains now a Reject Button as well as a Put Back button. Due to the modular design of the UI implementation, the generated UI can be adjusted easily. Find more details on the enhanced SAPUI5 Generation in Romy’s Blog.

SAPUI5 Gen.png

REST adapter enhancements

The following two new enhancements of the REST adapter have been introduced:

  • You can configure the sender REST adapter to poll REST APIs including splitting of messages, duplicate check, and incremental requests.
  • You can define the Quality of Service either by HTTP operation or interface operation which allows you using one and the same channel for different operation modes.

For more details, refer to the corresponding blogs within the REST adapter blog series.REST_Adapter_Enhancements.png

Alerting email notification

The message based alerting allows you to send email notifications whenever an alert has been triggered. To setup the email notification, you need to schedule the so called email consumer job (AlertConsumerJob). So far, the format of the email payload was fixed. With the new version of the email consumer job (AlertConsumerJobV2), you can customize the email payload based on your own defined template file. Various variables are supported that are replaced during alert generation with values of the failed message. In addition, you can set the priority and the sensitivity of the emails, and define the language of the system generated text. See SAP Note 2088606 for more details.Alerting_Email_Notification.png

Integration Directory Migration tool enhancements

The Integration Directory Migration tool helps you to automate the migration of your configuration scenarios running on an SAP Process Integration dual-stack system to SAP Process Orchestration. The following new features have been added:

  • As an alternative to generate Integrated Configuration Objects, you can migrate the PI dual-stack scenarios to Integration Flows
  • Supporting migration of scenarios with Receiver Rules
  • Automatic resolution of Receiver List for scenarios with Extended Receiver Determination

Integration_Directory_Migration.png

Performance monitor supporting Integration Engine

The performance monitor for the Adapter Engine has been enhanced to support messages that are processed on an Integration Engine. It  runs within the SAP NetWeaver Administrator replacing the previous monitor which was based on the Runtime Workbench. When selecting the Integration Engine from the drop down menu, you can leverage from all capabilities that are supported for the Adapter Engine, e.g., various filter criteria, displaying performance data at various levels of detail (overview, per scenario, per measuring point), and export to CSV.Performance_Monitor.png

Enterprise Service Repository perspective in NWDS

The Enterprise Services Repository (ESR) in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio doesn’t support all features compared to the Java Web Start UI, also known as Swing client. We have closed some of the gaps introducing the following features:

  • Transport of ESR objects via file export and import
  • Search design time artifacts in ESR
  • Display queue for field mappings to verify your message mappings

For more details of all new 7.31 SP16 / 7.4 SP11 features, refer to the release notes.

PI7.11 Archiving and logging

$

Hello expert:

Background: table sxmspmast, sxmsclur, sxmsclup get growing in customer's productive system, i affect the execution of monitor message with tcode: sxi_monitor. especially both table sxmsclur and sxmsclup are more then 20G based on system persist data in database for 2 weeks. all interfaces are using sync mode, parameter LOGGING_SYNC is set to "1"。data volume per day is 500,000. so i give them some opinions about reduce data volume.  using archiving or switching procedure may speed up write and read on database. but i have a couple of questions about PI7.11  archiving either in ABAP or in JAVA stack.

Questions:

1. PI couldn't do archiving for sync messages? if not, how to archive sync message instead of deletion in abap stack.

2. switch procedure could replace archive functionality?  it will affect performance daily operation on database? since we did test on Q system, but copying failed, then restarted. so fail often happen?

3. customer don't want to reduce retention period about synchronous message, log are not stored in sender or receiver, so they reply on pi to search the message or verify if data-self are correct  or are transferred to target system. this point couldn't be changed so far. they have to use pi to record log. do you guys have good idea to resolve this case?

4. i suggest them to use AAE to reconstruct scenario, after verify all scenarios, AAE is adopted their all of scenarios, so my questions, in case of all scenarios are switched into AAE mode, they face same question about syn messages's retention.  i searched java properties on XPI: messgeing system in NWA. only three parameters are available for setting( messaging.syncMessageRemover.removeBody, checkInterval, and messageCount), it looks like not to persist sync messages into DB as customer expected. do they have to upgrade PI 7.11 to PI7.4 ?

5. about upgrade, they have 190 interfaces, how long does it take to do upgrade or migration?

sorry for a lots of questions, but the purpose of questions is about how to reduce data storage in DB , do you have good idea?

Thanks your reading

REST ADAPTER - Dynamic attributes to get XML Input

$
0
0

Hi All,

I have an REST<–> PI <–> RFC scenario with a PI 7.4 system. We had a requirement for Exposing the Function module as RESTful service. In that I am using  Synchronous Sender Rest Adapter where I want to give 2 Runtime parameters

(TOKEN, INPUTREQUEST) as input in the URL and the same should pass to RFC and get the response back.

The sample Request URL will be like:

http://Host:Port/RESTAdapter/Demo/PO?TOKEN=12345&XMLREQUEST=<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

<Z_Request>

<REGION>ASIA</REGION>

<SOURCE_SYSTEM>PRO</SOURCE_SYSTEM>

<item>

<KOKRS>1000</KOKRS>

<BUKRS>100</BUKRS>

</item>

</Z_Request>

Here is the UDF  for getting the inputs from the URL:

Map<String, Object> all = container.getInputHeader().getAll();

DynamicConfiguration dynConf = (DynamicConfiguration)all.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);

DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create( namespace, attribute);

String xml = dynConf.get(key);

return xml;

When we place the URL in Rest Client tool, SAP PI takes the two parameters through GET variable but the value of XMLREQUEST is getting truncated as "<?xml version". We are not able to get the complete xml from "XMLREQUEST" and

pass as an input to RFC.

Kindly suggest some ideas/solutions for this issue.

Many Thanks,

Ezhil.

Webservice integration without PI

Dear Experts,

I have a non technical issue. Need your guidance.

We have implemented a non SAP tool.  Recently a requirement came up to integrate it with SAP. But we did not budgeted for PI in this year plan.

The requirement is to integrate it non-real time ( may be 10 mins lag accepted)

Under this circumstance can anybody suggest if there exist any licensing restriction from SAP  to integrate  through webservices without PI for the time being till we implement PI. Anybody has any experience?

Your expertise will be highly appreciated.

Hello,

We are currently migrating our old PI 7.11 dual-stack system to a 7.4 single-stack system. For the moment, I migrated my first scenario by creating my first iflow in NWDS. This is an iDoc to HTTP communication, the destination is configured with a party (scheme ALE#LI#BA). After deploying and transporting to our quality system, the interface doesn't work unfortunately. The error I'm getting in sm58 is:

I already found quite some resources about similar issues but these haven't worked for me. What I already tried/checked:

- manually checked the generated ICO

- tested the sender and receiver communication channels - both OK

- reloaded the iDoc metadata

- checked if the sent iDoc of R/3 is the same as the source iDoc configured in the ICO

- Checked the adapter-specific settings of the source Business system

- according to this thread https://scn.sap.com/thread/3743245, I should change the JavaIdocAdapter resource:

Persistance = true (this was already the case)

AutoNumberFromDB = true (this was configured in our system as false, I changed it to true and retested but the error persisted. Afterwards changed it back to false)

- checked if the SNDPRN node of the iDoc is filled in correctly

The most usefull threads/blogs I checked:

- http://saphelp.me/commit-fault-asj-ejb-005043/

- https://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-31398

- https://scn.sap.com/thread/3638892

- https://scn.sap.com/thread/3743245

- https://scn.sap.com/thread/2078780

- https://scn.sap.com/thread/3368682

Also found some notes, but I don't think the apply to the problem we're experiencing:

- 1952406 No Service configured for key

- 1872390 Handling invalid XML characters

- 1938302 java.lang.NullPointerException: Name is null

Any help will be greatly appreciated! I've spend quite some time investigating, but for the moment I'm all out of ideas.

Best regards,

Maarten

Interface not getting passed to NW BPM.

Dear All,

Greetings of the day.

We have an SAP to Webservice async scenario, through the NW BPM.

We are facing an issue in sending the trigger message (interface to BPM is XI 3.0 compatible) from SAP to the NW BPM. We are getting the following error.

Message could not be processed.Reason: com.sap.aii.proxy.xiruntime.core.ESPXISystemFaultException: Error encountered during processing of XI request message in inbound ESP; Hint: com.sap.engine.interfaces.webservices.runtime.RuntimeProcessException: Technical difficulties were experienced during process execution.

We are getting this the error when I am testing the functionality through WSNavigator or SOAP UI. (In actual scenario ABAP proxy will send the message to NW BPM).

I have tried testing the BPM from the Netweaver Admin and process is going into BPM. I can see the Interface which will be triggered first in the BPM, in the message monitoring.

Request your expertise in overcoming the error for triggering the BPM.

Thank you,

Best Regards,

Ajay

NW BPM start event not calling

Hi Experts,

I have deployed below process instance with start event having message trigger - synchronous service interface.

Process.JPG

While testing from soapUI it gives error like:

<SOAP:Fault>

         <faultcode>SOAP:Server</faultcode>

         <faultstring>Server Error</faultstring>

         <detail>

            <jpr:Fault xmlns:jpr="http://com.sap/aii/proxy/xiruntime/">com.sap.aii.proxy.xiruntime.core.ESPXISystemFaultException: Error encountered during processing of XI request message in inbound ESP; Hint: com.sap.engine.interfaces.webservices.runtime.RuntimeProcessException: Technical difficulties were experienced during process execution.</jpr:Fault>

         </detail>

      </SOAP:Fault>

I already searched SDN on the above error, but no clue.

So I am pasting complete logs from NWA:

Hi!

I have question about monitoring in BPM.

In this blog Boost your Correlation Scenarios with Conditional Starthttp://scn.sap.com/community/bpm/blog/2013/04/04/conditional-start-monitoring-47 said: "A message sent to the web service endpoint will be attempted to be correlated to a running process. In case the message payload does not satisfy any correlation condition or there is no process running, the system rejects it for correlation....This event is written to the business log of the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, which can be accessed in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator by choosing Troubleshooting > Processes and Tasks > Business Logs".

I create test scenario in AEX and process with Start Condition in NWDS SP07.

If I send a message that does not satisfy Start Condition, then I can't find in Business Logs any log. In AEX (pimon/message monitoring) have successful message. In nwa/logs I can find only this logs: "Java proxy runtime (JPR) accepted the message", "JPR successfully processed the message".

Where I can find more information about discarded messages? How I can understand that my message not started process?
